If you want  know Chinese stock market better, understanding what people are talking about in financial newspaper is very important.  Today we are going to read a line fron WSJ Chinese.

Like any other country's stock market, China has more than one market and a lot of different indexes.  One of the most common index is 上证综指 shàng zhèng zōng zhǐ, which is the abbreviation of "上海证券交易所综合股价指数" (SSE composite Index), 上海 (Shànghǎi) 证券 (zhèngquàn, securities) 交易所 (jiāoyìsuǒ, exchange) 综合 (zōnghé, composite) 股价 (gǔ jià, share price) 指数 (zhǐshù, index). 上证综指 can also be called 上证指数  shàng zhèng zhǐshù、沪指 hù zhǐ.  Other important indexes : 深成指 (shēn chéng zhǐ, SZSE Component Index, an index of 40 stocks that are traded at the Shenzhen Stock Exchange), 沪深300 (hù shēn sānbǎi, CSI 300, is a capitalization-weighted stock market index designed to replica the performance of 300 stocks traded in the Shanghaiand Shenzhen stock exchanges).

盘(pàn) is a finance term, meaning market.  We have words like 开盘 (kāipán, openning)、收盘(sōupán, closing)、询盘(xúnpán, inquiry)、报盘(bàopán, offer).

The opening price is usually called 开盘价 (kāipán jià), 低开 (dī kāi) means the market opens low, the opposite is 高开 (gāo kāi).  

跌 (diē)、涨(zhǎng) are used for decrease and increase prospectively, they are also used with 上、下, like: 上涨(shàng zhǎng)、下跌(xià diē). 幅 (fǔ) is used to say the amount of decrease or increase, like: 涨幅，跌幅.

窄(zhǎi) by itself is narrow, an adjective. In finance 收窄(shōu zhǎi) means the amount getting smaller.

成交(chéngjiāo) means business done or strike a bargain, sometimes the news also say成交量(chéngjiāo liàng, volume). For example: 市场价格并未有上涨，成交量也没有明显变化。
